The
Mankon Cultural and Development Association (MACUDA) in Minnesota
was founded in 2002 to bring together Mankon people and their
friends living in the Twin Cities of Minnesota and their environs.
A few committed Mankon people drafted a Constitution which
was later adopted as a working document of the newly created
and registered association. So far, the following three executive
bureaus have been elected to steer the affaires of the association.
The first ever executive bureau was made up of the following,

These
fine men and women set the stage for what have become traditional
activities in MACUDA Minnesota such as monthly meetings held
every first Saturday of the month (formerly every first Sunday),
a savings account for members (njangi), a life insurance coverage
for the families of subscribed members, an annual gala for
fundraising and merrymaking and also the sponsoring of projects
in the areas of health and education back in Mankon. The second
executive bureau ruled from 2004-2006.

This
group took MACUDA-MN a few more steps forward by making a
huge donation of two thousand dollars in support of the newly
created GTC Alabukam and also by initiating and organizing
the first ever Convention of Mankon people in America in August
2006. It was a great success. The third executive bureau ruled
from 2006 - present.

So
far, this executive has been following in the footsteps of
its predecessors while also planning some big projects in
the months ahead. From its modest beginnings, MACUDA-MN has
carved a niche for itself as a responsible, reputable, respectable
and progressive group of about forty registered members. During
a recent event organized by the association dubbed “Grandparents
and Kids Day” to honor the grandparents and kids of
members of the association, it was noticed that the number
of registered members may not be reflective of the actual
demography of MACUDA-MN. As the group continues to grow, so
too is its determination to serve as a true forum for the
preservation and promotion of Mankon values.
